Presented by Dorothy Mandel, Ph.D.
Course: In this 1 1/2 hour presentation, Dr. Mandel will use empirical evidence, current theory and research to define the neurobiology of nurture and to present related concepts and strategies that can assist clients to relieve stress and regulate emotions. Her presentation will include (1) a discussion of the physiological underpinnings and origins of stress and resilience, (2) basic scientific understandings of the relationship between heartbeats, hormones, and emotions, (3) strategies to reduce stress and increase resilience, (4) scientifically supported theoretical links between the neurobiology of nurture and epigenetics, (4) physiological evidence of one heart affecting another at a distance, and (5) biophotons and the quantum biology of the heart.
Our Speaker: Dorothy Mandel earned both her Masters Degree in Psychology and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Saybrook Graduate School. There she focused on health psychology and gained a strong background in
biofeedback, hypnosis and physiological psychology. She began studying and presenting pre- and perinatal psychology prior to graduate school and continues to be involved actively in those areas. Currently, Dr. Mandel teaches online courses in pre and perinatal psychology at Santa Barbara Graduate School
(recently merged with Chicago School of Professional Psychology). In addition, for a number of years, she has worked as a behavior specialist with developmentally delayed and autistic children and adults. Dr. Mandel has a private practice as a registered psychological assistant, and works under the supervision of Dr. Richard Zimmer. Her dissertation research was completed at the Institute of Noetic Sciences under the direction of Dr. Dean Radin, and is incorporated in this presentation.
